“Smoker The Bear” or “The Cross-eyed Bear”

After I drew this pic it occurred to me that it looked alot like the artist Theo Ellsworth who I saw a few month back at The Pittsburgh Indie Comics Expo.
Theo is a really cool dude and a great artist. Here’s a pic of his that i may or may not of subconsciously stole from.

Basil Wolverton

Basil Wolverton is one of my favorite artist of all time. I don't think I have ever seen an other artist that was so good at being so grotesque. All the little cross-hatching that he put in to his drawings gave them such a textured, visceral feeling.   He was a master of capturing ugly, gross, disgusting people with such a fun, lighthearted approach.
From time to time I try to draw like him but always fall shot. here is one of the many pitchers I drew with Wolverton on my mind.
